This series includes correspondence with the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, field clerks, government farmers, social workers, businesses, schools, and individual Osages relating to the expenditure of trust funds. In addition to the correspondence there are bills and invoices for foods and services, receipts, purchase orders, papers filed with the court for Osage County relating to guardianship proceedings, and copies of applications for surplus funds. Many of the requests relate to expenditures for educational purposes and the records include notices of enrollment, tuition notices, newspaper clippings, and occasionally transcripts of grades.

In 1851 the Osage Subagency and the Neosho Subagency were combined to form the Neosho Agency which was responsible for the Osage, Quapaw, Seneca, and Mixed Band of Seneca and Shawnee. This agency was placed under the Southern Superintendency where it remained until transferred to the Western Superintendency in 1867.
